Welcome to the Women's Resource Office (WRO)

Student Organizations  - Please be aware!

Never bring someone into your house/apt/chapter/hall, etc to provide a presentation on any topic, without researching that person/organization first.  With Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, you may get offers of programs on sexual assault/rape prevention and self defense.   Make sure the person/program providing the training/workshop is legitimate.  Ask for references and the contact number and name of a person at a home agency or organization for which the presenter works or volunteers.  A qualified presenter will be affiliated with a known agency or organization and have references.  And beware if the presenter wants to try and sell you something as part of the presentation.

There have been recent reports at various universities of a scam that involves a man gaining access to student organization meetings, then presenting incorrect information on self defense and rape prevention and selling pepper spray to the attendees.  If you have concerns about someone you’ve recently seen give a presentation, please contact the Purdue Police Department.  (494-8221)

If you would like information on legitimate presentations, please contact the Purdue Police Department about the SAFE/RAD programs or the WRO (494-9889) for a list of Purdue offices and local agencies that can provide presentations on prevention
