Visiting Instructor of University Bands, with responsibilities as director of the Purdue University Symphony Orchestra, director of the Concert Band (fall semester) and director of the Collegiate Band (spring semester). The position is a non-tenured, one year position.
Requirements: Serve as the director of the Purdue University Symphony Orchestra with responsibilities for coordination of instruction. This includes planning and carrying out the daily operation of the Purdue Symphony, music preparation and instruction. This also includes coordination of the symphony orchestra chamber music program. In addition, serve as director of the university Concert Band during the fall semester and the Collegiate Band during the spring semester. Play a significant role in student recruitment and alumni outreach.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred. Minimum of three years of public school and/or college teaching experience required. Successful experience as director of a symphony orchestra is also required. Large ensemble conducting and rehearsal experience is essential. The ability to effectively communicate with students, peers, and alumni is an important aspect of this position. Individuals with string background are encouraged to apply.
