Don’t risk the consequences of failing to enroll

If you don’t enroll by 6 p.m. (ET), Nov. 15, here’s what will happen with your 2014 benefits:

  • Everyone who does not choose a 2014 medical plan or opt out of coverage for next year through EBenefits will be enrolled automatically for 2014 in the highest-deductible medical plan, the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2. This automatic enrollment extends even to those who are currently opted out of Purdue medical coverage.
  • Although you’ll be enrolled in the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2, you won’t have a health savings account (HSA) through the University in 2014, and you won’t receive an HSA contribution from Purdue. Purdue can only open an HSA for you when you authorize it during benefits open enrollment.
  • You may be able to open an HSA on your own through a financial institution, but you will not be able to open an HSA through Purdue next year.
  • Family members you currently cover on a Purdue medical plan will be enrolled automatically in the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2 for 2014.
  • You and your covered spouse/same-sex domestic partner (SSDP) will be charged the $500 per person annual tobacco-user additional premium.
  • You will be charged tobacco-user rates on any additional employee term life insurance you carry.
  • You will have no contributions to a flexible spending account (including health care, limited purpose and dependent care FSAs).
  • Other 2013 benefits will roll forward to 2014.
