Retirement savings programs offered for Healthy Purdue credit

Staff Benefits has partnered with TIAA-CREF to offer retirement savings programs to departments on a first come, first serve basis. The retirement education program is a long-term initiative designed to help staff and faculty learn about the need to save for retirement and the different investment vehicles that will help them to achieve their goals. This presentation is designed with all staff in mind, whether they are on the TIAA-CREF or PERF program as their Purdue-sponsored plan.

If you invite Staff Benefits into your department for a retirement education meeting, you can expect a very practical presentation. TIAA-CREF will cover such topics as:

bullet

What things to consider when planning for retirement

bullet

Ways to save

bullet

How the cost of living will affect your retirement

bullet

Options for funding your retirement, such as working longer or saving more

After the presentation, staff will be given the opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one counseling session with a TIAA-CREF representative. This gives employees a chance to review their own personal situation and discover ways to maximize their chances of meeting their retirement objectives. To schedule a departmental meeting, contact benefit counselor Susan Ince at 49-61964.

Participation in this workshop can be used for Healthy Purdue's wellness criteria. Those participating in the Retirement Savings Program in 2007 can earn the "Health Awareness" criteria, or the "red" apple. Participants who complete five of the eight apples are eligible for the $250 (before taxes) incentive to be paid in 2008. See the Healthy Purdue Web site for more information on the wellness criteria.

This program is in pay status with supervisor approval.
