LeadingEdition: E-newsletter for Purdue University Supervisors

It's a Spring Fling thing!

All staff can attend Spring Fling without loss of pay, vacation, or personal holiday, according to University policy.

Spring Fling is designed to show appreciation to faculty and staff for the hard work they do throughout the year.  From 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, those who work on the West Lafayette Campus are invited to take a break and enjoy activities with fellow staff members.

President Martin Jischke has asked deans, directors, and department or office heads to use Spring Fling as an opportunity to show “special appreciation to support staff” when making arrangements for office staffing during the day of the event.

Here are some guidelines to help facilitate attendance at Spring Fling:

bullet

Attendance is covered in “worked regular” pay status for staff attending during normally scheduled work hours.

bullet

Temporary staff can attend if work schedules permit, but not in pay status.

bullet

Staff scheduled on the evening or night shifts and those not normally scheduled to work May 20 are invited to attend. Adjustments to work schedules normally are not made to cover these staff members in pay status.

bullet

Staff are not expected to return to work after Spring Fling if one hour or less remains in their work day.

bullet

Staff on vacation or sick leave on May 20 should remain in such status for the day. Regular pay status is not applicable for such staff.

Questions about these guidelines should be directed to me, Debbie Dillman-Crowell, at 49-47397.
