Leave processing changes in Human Resource Services
To provide better leaves management support and improved customer service, Human Resource Services established the Leave Processing Center in the Shared Services Center (SSC) effective March 1, 2009, to process, review, and approve employee leaves. The SSC Leaves Processing Center coordinates various processing actions that were formerly handled by Employee Relations, Staff Benefits, and the Shared Service Center.
In addition, the Leave Processing Center works with departmental business offices and satellite HR operations (i.e., Housing and Food Services, Physical Facilities, ITaP, and Advancement) in managing various leave situations.
Staff Benefits provides overall leave policy administration, including policy review, revision, interpretation, and approval of policy exceptions. Staff Benefits works closely with the Leave Processing Center to manage various leave situations and coordinate benefit-related programs associated with leaves (i.e., short term disability, long term disability, worker's compensation, and return-to-work programs).
Supervisors should continue to use their existing leave resources and follow any area specific guidelines in assisting employees with various leave situations.
