Give your staff a strong start with the new employee orientation program
Now you can help your new employees assimilate quickly and successfully to their jobs. Human Resources has designed a University-wide orientation that offers a foundation of knowledge regarding mission, organizational structure and functions. The orientation also fosters understanding of Purdue’s culture, values and diversity.
New employees will have an opportunity to see beyond their positions or offices and better understand how each department supports the University’s mission.
Register your new employees
New employee orientation is offered each Monday from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and lunch is provided. Additional training opportunities are available for new staff with administrative supervision responsibilities.
When you fill your open position, please register the employee for orientation.
The success of this program depends on supervisors registering their employees to take part. We look forward to your participation and your feedback.
Guide to onboarding helps supervisors
We all know that once new employees join the staff, supervisors must help them understand their role and how they fit into the overall organization. You need to ensure they successfully adjust to the job and develop positive working relationships.
Therefore, Human Resources has developed the “Supervisor’s Guide to Effectively Onboarding a New Employee,” an important orientation tool to help you actively participate in ensuring the success of your new employee, beginning on Day One.
Using the recommendations offered in this guide, you can set a positive first impression, provide a welcoming environment and increase overall productivity during your employee's first few weeks on the job.
