Effective March 1, 2006, Leading Edge – Plus
certificate programming will be presented in three modules and will be
accessible to supervisors in three user-friendly formats.
The formats
Online, Self-Paced Training Utilizing WebCT Vista: Estimated to take 10
hours to complete, the online format will allow you to earn the certificate
at your own pace and on your own schedule. Just be sure you complete the
program within the 2006 calendar year.
One Full-Day Facilitated Session: If you’d rather attend a
facilitated session than study online, you have the option to complete all
three modules through one all-day program.
Three Modules in Three Separate Sessions: Prefer a facilitated
session, but can’t get away for a full day? Attend one 2˝-hour module at a
time.
The modules
Human Resource Services' goal is to provide this beneficial information
to supervisors in a thorough and concise manner. For this reason, Leading
Edge is now comprised of the following modules:
Supervisory HR Training: An overview of federal employment
legislation and Purdue specific policies, procedures, and practices. After
successfully completing this program, participants will demonstrate the
ability to research HR policies online utilizing the employee handbook,
University Policies Web site, and the Business Procedures Manual.
Participants will greatly enhance their ability to make decisions in a
manner consistent with best-practice employment standards.
Change Management Training: This material covers key change
management concepts, including understanding change, identifying common
change dynamics, and providing helpful tools to effectively manage change.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will have developed a better
understanding of change at the individual, team, and organizational levels
and will be able to more effectively manage change in the work environment.
Leadership, Teamwork, and Diversity Training: This module builds a
better understanding of leadership, teamwork, and diversity in the work
environment by providing participants with a general understanding of each
concept, identifying key interrelationships between the concepts, and
increasing individual awareness and application of these concepts.
Participants will be able to apply these concepts in the work environment to
enhance leadership skills, encourage teamwork, and promote diversity.
