Employee Assistance Program

To make an appointment, call 49-47707.

Counseling and Referral Services

When you visit the Employee Assistance Program, you will meet with an EAP professional for an initial assessment to discuss the problem you are facing and to develop options for addressing it. Based upon your initial assessment, the EAP professional will help you determine the best way to address your problem. This may include up to ten visits with the EAP professional, or you may be referred to another local agency or resource.

Employees are entitled to go to the first appointment in paid status. All other appointments are to be taken as either sick leave or vacation. To make an appointment, call 49-47707 or stop by our office at 501 Hayes Street, 8 a.m.-noon or 1-5 p.m.

Substance Abuse Assessments and Referrals

We provide individual drug/alcohol assessments accompanied by a referral to a certified substance abuse counselor.  Employees who require an IOP will be referred to one of our current vendors.

Emergency Interventions

We provide consultation regarding specific employee problems.  We respond to and assess for potentially traumatic events which may include suicide, anger and violence, abusive situations, sudden death or grief and loss.

Supervisor Consultations

Supervisors may use EAP services as a resource for guidance and assistance in dealing with a troubled employee, enhancing the work environment, improving job performance, and reducing risk.  The EAP can coach supervisors on the appropriate use of constructive confrontation and situations that may warrant an EAP referral.  Supervisors can refer an employee to the program, or employees may use the program on their own initiative.

Customized Education on Behavioral Risk Management

We provide consultation and education about human activities that can lead to costly behavior risks for individual departments.  We can help increase awareness of the risk of alcohol and drug abuse, the high cost of depression in the workplace, the risk of ineffective communication in dealing with angry hostile people, or any other activities and behaviors that lead to lowered productivity or loss of resources.
