Tobacco Cessation

Have you recently stopped using tobacco or are you thinking about quitting? Attend this class to learn tips and techniques to prepare to break the habit or continue your new tobacco free lifestyle. Special focus will be placed on behavior change, overcoming withdrawal/cravings, coping with stress, managing weight, preventing relapses and more.

Weight Management Series

Want to lose weight and don't know where to start? Have you been wanting to adopt a healthy lifestyle? The time is now to come join us for an 8 week program geared toward helping you become a healthier you. The program is led by an RN health coach who will help you identify issues that contribute to being overweight, assist in developing goals and strategies for successful weight loss and maintenance, provide support and guidance and lead discussions on nutrition and physical activity. Active participation is highly encouraged and we look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Dishing it Up Diabetes Style!

You can enjoy tasty, healthy meals at home when you have diabetes by making a few changes to the way you choose and prepare food. Within this workshop led by Ellen Welch RD, each class will offer a cooking demonstration and provide samples of delicious, diabetic-friendly dishes, along with the recipe to use at home.

Lunch and Learn Workshops

Physical Activity for Optimal Health

Purdue Communication Description: Need to find some extra motivation to jump start your physical activity? Don't know where to start out? Come learn the benefits and types of physical activity and learn strategies for cardio, strength building, and stretching. The discussion will also include guidance on how to get started, goal setting, and safety techniques to practice.

Blood Pressure Management

What is high blood pressure? What are the risk factors? Am I at risk? This discussion, lead by Center for Healthy Living nurse practitioner, Beth Ann Taylor, MSN, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, will cover the basics of blood pressure, methods of treatment and prevention.

DASH Diet

What is the DASH diet? Why is it important? Many times, high blood pressure can be managed and/or prevented through good dietary habits. As a compliment to the blood pressure management workshop, this discussion will focus on nutrition to treat and prevent high blood pressure.

Successful Cholesterol Management

Have you recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol? Or are you trying to reduce your chances of a diagnosis by trying to keep your numbers in check? Come learn what cholesterol is, where it comes from, and what types of screenings are available. We will also discuss how to keep your numbers low by eating healthy, being active, and investigating medication options.
