Center for Healthy Living Workshops for 2017

To register for any of the workshops, utilize the patient portal and follow these steps:

  1. Log in and click the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Click the New button in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click the Add Recipient button and select “Wellness Program Registration,” then click Select.
  4. Type “Workshop Registration” as the subject.
  5.  Enter your name, contact information and which workshop you would like to attend in the body of the email then click Send. 

Employees without computer access can call 49-45505 to register.

Tobacco Cessation - Living Tobacco Free

Have you recently stopped using tobacco or are you thinking about quitting? Attend this class to learn tips and techniques to prepare to break the habit or continue your new tobacco free lifestyle. Special focus will be placed on behavior change, overcoming withdrawal/cravings, coping with stress, managing weight, preventing relapses and more.

Upcoming session dates and times will be added as they are scheduled.

Weight Management

Want to lose weight and don't know where to start? Have you been wanting to adopt a healthy lifestyle? The time is now to come join us for a six-week program geared toward helping you become a healthier you. The program is led by a wellness coach who will help you identify issues that contribute to being overweight, assist in developing goals and strategies for successful weight loss and maintenance, provide support and guidance and lead discussions on nutrition and physical activity.

Hypertension Management

Do you currently have or been recently diagnosed with high blood pressure?  In this five-week program you will learn how to manage your high blood pressure and prevent complications. You will gain an understanding of what is “high blood pressure,” with guidance in self-care and management to include nutrition, physical activity, stress management and medication use. You will develop your own blood pressure action plan so you can partner with your health care provider to gain the most from office visits.

Start date: May 9 (No class the week of Memorial Day holiday week)

Living with Diabetes

Have you recently been diagnosed with diabetes and are worried about how your life will change? Or are you currently living with diabetes and need to improve your outcomes? The Living with Diabetes program will provide you with essential education and support to get you off on the right foot or back on track. And here’s another great benefit: The program provides discounts on your diabetes medications when you maintain participation. The next program dates will be shared once available.

Stress Management

Does your life feel out of balance? Are you being pulled in too many directions and the stress and anxiety is starting to build? Come learn to recognize the sources of stress, how our body and mind react to stress and strategies for balancing our work and home life demands. This 6-week workshop will also include resources on the pathophysiology of laughter, coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques.
