What is the Benefits Ambassadors Program?

The goal of the Benefits Ambassadors Program is to recruit interested and able faculty and staff to act as liaisons to the University’s Benefits team in an effort to promote overall health campus wide. The ambassadors will help inform and motivate colleagues to achieve healthier lifestyles by providing information on the variety of benefits resources available, sharing suggestions and ideas in committee meetings and actively advocating health and wellness benefits among their co-workers. Ambassadors support the Benefits team in their mission:

The Benefits team is committed to designing, delivering and servicing high quality, affordable benefit programs. They leverage innovative and up-to-date tools, education and communication to meet the diverse needs of faculty and staff and their families. The team pledges to support members of the University community with outstanding customer service as they actively pursue improved health and financial well-being.

Who are Benefits Ambassadors?

Benefits Ambassadors are Purdue faculty or staff volunteers interested in helping motivate the West Lafayette campus to achieve an overall healthier life. They have a desire to help make a difference in creating a healthy and positive culture and promote overall health and wellness for faculty and staff through the sharing and advocacy of benefits. Ambassadors will need to discuss this professional development opportunity with their supervisors and gain approval prior to application. Service in this program is considered paid status.

 

Benefits Ambassadors will:

  • Attend an initial half-day, detailed orientation and training prior to their service year;  
  • Attend quarterly meetings to receive up-to-date information on initiatives and available resources to the West Lafayette campus;
  • Promote current initiatives through emailed messaging to represented areas;
  • During their year of service, organize a minimum of four workshops, events or activities for represented areas. This can include, but is not limited to, Center for Healthy Living workshops, wellness screenings, financial planning, family programming, etc.; and
  • Help facilitate the distribution of benefits posters throughout campus.
