Benefits Enrollment

Welcome, New Employees!

Receiving your benefits enrollment kit can be an overwhelming experience. But have no fear; help is near. Resources are available to help you understand both the benefits and the enrollment process. Turn to one of the following resources for help:

1) The account clerk and/or the business manager in your department is often a wealth of information. You may find the answer you seek right within your own area.

2) Call Staff Benefits or your regional campus Human Resources office at the number listed in the Directory of this book. If necessary, you can meet with someone who will answer your benefit questions and help you complete needed forms.

3) West Lafayette campus employees may attend a New Employee Benefit Seminar. Staff Benefits conducts a seminar each month. Call 49-42222 for information.

Important Reminders:

  • Return your completed enrollment form within two weeks after receiving your benefits enrollment packet.
  • New employees who do not return a completed enrollment form by the deadline will be assigned a benefits package. The assigned package includes employee-only coverage through the Incentive PPO medical plan and one times your annual salary in term life insurance.
  • Selections you make are effective through the end of the calendar year.
  • Contact Staff Benefits or your regional campus Human Resources office if you have a change in family status. You have 31 days from the change to make appropriate benefit adjustments.

Information for Business Offices

Reminder - New employees must be established in the OnePurdue system BEFORE a Benefit packet can be produced. This is a change from the old process where benefit packets were produced before the employee was established in the system. Please submit the required documents to the Shared Service Center. Once the employee is approved and entered a benefits packet will generated. Benefit coverage will still begin on the eligibility date. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this transition.

If you are unsure about the requirements for new hires, please check out the Business @ Purdue processes.
