Study Abroad Opportunities

Exposure to global ideas, thinking, and culture are an integral part of becoming an educated citizen who will thrive in today's society. The University Honoros Program (Honors College) encourages its students to incorporate global components into their curriculum through study abroad and other international experiences.

Venice Study Abroad

The University Honors Program (Honors College) and the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) Honors Program present Honors Semester in Italy: The Wonders of Venice which is OPEN to all Purdue undergraduate honors students in fall 2009. Study in a city of legendary beauty, live on an island in a Venetian lagoon, learn Italian, and earn 15 honors credits in an interdisciplinary set of courses on the art, history, culture, and allure of Venice. The Wonders of Venice program dates are October 4 - December 18, 2010. Ten students participated in the inaugural " The Wonders of Venice" during fall semester 2009 with Professors Emily Allen and Dino Felluga. TRANSYLVANIA STUDY TOUR

During spring breaks 2006 and 2008, undergraduate honors students and faculty traveled to Transylvania. Transylvania study tour traveled to sites associated with Prince Vlad III "Drakulya" of Wallachia, the original "Dracula" history, and provided increased knowledge of the historical underpinning of the Dracula legend. For successful completion of the study tour, students received 1 hour of credit, HONR 199Z, "Transylvania Study Tour".

LAVAL UNIVERSITY STUDY TOUR

The Universite Laval Study Tour is a collaborative initiative between Honors College and IP (International Programs) and is made possible through funding from the Provost’s Office. During the week at Laval, students attend seminars facilitated by Laval Professors and government dignitaries. Also, students participate in experiential learning activities to complement faculty seminars such as visiting the National Assembly and Musee de la Civilisation. Upon completion of the Universite Laval Study Tour, participants will receive one-hour of credit for HONR 199T.
