Sponsored Internship and Study Abroad in China

Please join us to learn about this one-and-only program that comes with a generous corporate financial sponsorship, Purdue presidential study abroad scholarship, as well as 12 HTM credits in your plan of study.

Date/Time: Sept. 22 (Tuesday) and Sept. 25 (Friday) 5:00–7:00pm

Location: Marriott Hall 237.

About the Program

Fairmont Nanjing
New Property for 2015: Fairmont Nanjing
This unique study abroad experience combines 12 credits of academic learning, professional training and an immersive cultural experience over a 6-month period (mid-May through November) at one of several five-star luxury hotels located in China.
This program is financially sponsored by Purdue corporate partners. The corporate sponsorships pay for most of the program expenses including international airfare, room and board, stipends and other benefits. The total program fee including tuition for each selected student is as low as $5,504 for the 2015 Class*.

Participants who successfully complete the program will earn 12 credit hours towards an HTM degree:

1 credit HTM 20200 HTM Practicum
1 credit HTM 30200 HTM Internship
3 credits HTM 18100 Lodging Management or HTM39000 (HTM selective)
3 credits HTM 37200/HTM39800 Global Tourism Geography (HTM selective)
4 credits HTM 39900, Cross-Cultural Business Communications in HTM (HTM Selective or General Elective meeting foundational learning outcomes)

2016 Estimated Program Fee: $8,800-$9,300. including tuition, international airfare, and room and board. Participants may be eligible for a $3,000 Purdue University study abroad scholarship.

IMPORTANT: You must talk with a HTM advisor to discuss your plan of study before applying for this program.


Class of 2016 Application

HHS students who meet the University's general study abroad requirements are eligible to apply.

Students are encouraged to submit a formal application as early as May 2015, but no later than Oct. 1, 2015. On average, 12 internships are available each year. Offers are usually made within six weeks of receiving the application.
