What Our Alumni Say

Mattie White

“Nutrition Science has provided me a very unique perspective that incorporates biology, biochemistry, and nutrition.” –Mattie White (NUTR’16) medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine

Catherine Pinkston

“Having additional education in nutrition is a distinct advantage when going in to primary care, particularly when working with underserved patient populations as the link between poor nutrition and illness becomes obvious very quickly.” -Catherine Pinkston (NUTR’07) in resident at the Christ Hospital, Cincinnati

Kathryn Sands

“Every day I utilize my nutrition knowledge, from identifying gross macronutrient deficiencies to electrolyte imbalances in my patients. The Nutrition Science emphasis on research also prepared me for incorporating evidence based practice at the bedside to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes for my patients” -Kathryn Sands (NUTR’13) critical care nurse at University of Kentucky Hospital

Amanda Haan

“Nutrition Science provided an interdisciplinary approach to medicine by allowing me to study in any area of my choosing while achieving the medical school requirements and preparing me for the MCAT. Nutrition is not highlighted in most medical school curriculums, but Nutrition Science allows me to feel confident entering medical school with a strong background to help guide my future patients.” -Amanda Haan (NUTR’13), medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine – West Lafayette

Career Plan B is built-in
: while a majority of our students enter pre-med or pre-professional programs post-graduation, the nutrition science offers plenty of “back up” post-graduate opportunities including jobs in the industry sector and entry into graduate school.

Students get one-on-one academic advising each semester, and pre-professional students meet with Pre-Professional Advising staff for assistance in applying to professional programs.
