Second-Degree Accelerated Baccalaureate Program in Nursing - General Education Requirements

Prior to taking any nursing classes, you must have completed the following courses and have earned a grade of C or better in each (you may have already taken many of these for your first degree):

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology (2 semesters, with labs) – the equivalent of BIOL 20300 & 20400 or BIOL 30100 & 30200 at Purdue
  • General Chemistry (2 semesters, with labs) – the equivalent of CHM 11100 & 11200 or CHM 11500 & 11600 at Purdue
  • Microbiology – the equivalent of BIOL 22100 at Purdue
  • Nutrition – the equivalent of NUTR 30300 or NUTR 31500 at Purdue
  • Research Statistics – the equivalent of STAT 11300, STAT 30100, SOC 38200 or PSY 20100 at Purdue
  • Lifespan Human Development – the equivalent of HDFS 21000 at Purdue
  • Sociology or Psychology – the equivalent of any PSY or SOC class at Purdue

An academic advisor in the School of Nursing must examine your transcript to determine if courses are acceptable or not.. Some restrictions for these general education requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 in these General Education Requirements
  • Credits earned over ten years ago will be individually evaluated
  • All online/independent study courses must be reviewed and approved.
