Tell us about yourself:

I’m a nontraditional student who currently works for Humana (a health insurance company). I’m very interested in improving health conditions for low-income individuals, especially in rural areas. I have a number of artistic hobbies — painting, jewelry-making, etc. — and also practice yoga regularly.

Your vision:

In the future, I would like to see equal access to healthcare for everyone, particularly the economically disadvantaged in rural areas. After I get my master’s in public health, I hope to achieve that goal by doing statistical or epidemiological work for a nonprofit or government organization that supports low-income populations.

Why Purdue:

I love the small class sizes and opportunities to interact one-on-one with professors and other students.

Your education:

I received my undergraduate degree in English and fine arts from the University of Louisville.
