Audrey Rehberg

Track: 4+1

Audrey Rehberg

Tell us about yourself:

I am currently involved with the Public Health Student Association (PHSA) and work with Dr. Andrea DeMaria in her research lab. We are currently conducting research on postpartum sexuality and have plans to look at college female douching behaviors in the spring. Outside of school I enjoy crafting, cooking and shopping! I am currently applying for PhD programs and would like to focus on sexual health and behaviors.

Your vision:

I chose public health because the experience I gain from this program will enable me to achieve my ultimate career goal of becoming a sexual health researcher and educator on college campuses. It would be great to have a career like his, where I can create health initiatives that educate and inspire good decision-making. Outreach to college students is particularly important because they are more prone to at-risk behavior and are learning to make health choices that could shape their entire lives.

Your course load:

The course load for the 4+1 track is very manageable. During my first year, I was still in the same number of credit hours that I had been every other semester; the only difference was that two of my classes were at the graduate level, so they were more difficult. Being in the program has added a couple extra study hours each week, but I am enjoying the work, so it has been a fun course load. Overall, the 4+1 program is challenging, but manageable.
