In-person meetings are in Marriott 135. Virtual meetings are in Zoom. The personalized Zoom link will come in your notes and in your reminder.

Senior Living and Retirement Communities is a growing, dynamic hospitality and customer-focused industry that provide a wide variety of excellent career opportunities with significant advancement potential throughout the U.S. and globally. Career options include but are not limited to Executive Director (i.e., General Manager), Human Resources, Financial Management, Sales and Marketing, Community Relations, Foodservice Management, Events, Property Management, and much more!

 HTM 399, Management in Senior Living, Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the senior living industry. Essential topics include the industry’s evolution, current issues, and future trends; overview of operational and functional areas of retirement and senior living communities and comparison to other hospitality, health, and wellness organizations; and strategies for creating a culture of service excellence and wellbeing for residents and staff. Students will gain insights from guest speakers working in senior living and first-hand industry knowledge by shadowing professionals and interacting with residents in retirement and senior living communities.
