HTM Strategic Alliance Council
The mission of the HTM Strategic Alliance Council is to assist HTM in reaching and maintaining its goal of being the premier hospitality and tourism management program in the nation. As such, the unit must reach out and leverage support for facilities, faculty, and students. The council is charged with consulting the program on strategic issues and assisting HTM in securing resources necessary to support the unit's academic programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Demonstrating a commitment to the department by making an annual financial contribution. This gift is used for unrestricted needs of the department unless designated toward a specific cause or fund, such as a named scholarship.
- Developing construction and equipment for Marriott Hall, the new HTM facility that reflects the unit's goals for preeminence in education, research, and outreach.

- Preparing HTM students by creating opportunities to experience the industry in its broader context, such as involvement in industry conferences, professional exposure to field sites, and study abroad.
Membership in the Strategic Alliance Council includes such benefits as special signage and priority seating at department events, enhanced assistance by the HTM Career Center, recognition in HTM publications, access to expertise in the HTM department, and opportunities to interact with faculty and students inside and outside the classroom.
