Biography

Dr. Sandra Sydnor, an Assistant Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, received her BS from Michigan State University (Packaging Engineering); her MBA from The University of Miami (FL); and her PhD from The Ohio State University (Hospitality Management), with concentrated study areas in industry and firm performance, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Sydnor has almost thirty years combined of QSR corporate and entrepreneurial experience; fifteen years of undergraduate and graduate teaching; and a decade of professional experience in market research and advertising firms.

Dr. Sydnor's primary research interests focus on systems resilience. Her work analyzes systems resilience at the industry, community, and firm levels of analyses. Dr. Sydnor also examines service and brand management at the firm level, frequently through a service-learning lens.

Dr. Sydnor's work was nominated at the I-CHRIE Annual Conference’s for the Best Paper Award under the title: Weathering the Storm: Firm Resilience Under Sudden Change. Dr. Sydnor is a Service-Learning Faculty Fellow and a member of Purdue University’s Teaching for Tomorrow 2012-2013 cohort.
