HTM Hall of Fame

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the HTM Strategic Alliance Council, and the HTM Hall of Fame Committee will begin to solicit nominations for future members of the HTM Hall of Fame in the fall semester of 2013. The process will be an ongoing development and nominations may be accepted at any time. However, to be considered for a certain year, all nominations must be received no later than November 1st. Those individuals who are nominated and are not chosen as an inductee can be further considered the following year.

Nominating

The head of the HTM Hall of Fame Committee shall receive a letter of nomination from any individual indicating the nominees contributions to Purdue, HTM, and the Hospitality Industry. The individual nominating the person can also ask other individuals for supporting letters and can ask the nominee for information such as a resume to further support their case.

The Process & Categories

All nominations will be reviewed by the HTM Hall of Fame Committee after November 1st of each year. The committee will have an opportunity to review letters of nomination and to ask questions regarding each nominee. Members of the committee can also solicit additional information on each nominee upon request. The committee will decide if the person shall be eligible for the Legacy Category, the Distinguished Alumni Category, or the Young Alumni Category.

Legacy
These individuals do not have to be Purdue Alumni but who have made a significant contribution to HTM or to the Hospitality Industry.
Distinguished Alumni
These individuals are HTM Alums who have made significant contribution to HTM or to the Hospitality Industry.
Young Alumni
These individuals are HTM Alums who have graduated less than 15 years ago and have been successful in our industry and made a contribution to HTM or to the Hospitality Industry.

The committee will then decide on which individuals shall be put up before the committee for a vote. There will be no limit to the number of people who can be nominated and no limit to the number of individuals who can be put on the ballot. However, the committee will strive to keep the number of new inductees at a level of four after the first few years of operation. The voting will be completed no later than December 1st of each year.

Upon being chosen to enter the HTM Hall of Fame, individuals shall receive a letter from the Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism notifying them of this honor and inviting them to the HTM Annual Black Tie Dinner where they shall receive their award.
