Newell-Combs
Scholarship
The Newell-Combs Scholarship
will be awarded to Athletic Training Education students at Purdue
University. These scholarships serve not only as a tribute to "Pinky"
and Dr. Combs, but as a reward for the time and effort our athletic
training students dedicate to the athletic program and the University.
The recipient shall possess the ideals of scholarship, dedication,
professionalism, sincerity, loyalty, and citizenship; the ideal
Pinky Newell held to be most worthy of an athletic trainer.
The successful candidate will be selected based on the following
criteria:
- The student shall have
distinguished himself or herself academically with a minimum GPA
of at least 3.0 for a minimum of 60 credits.
- The student shall have
performed with distinction in the Purdue University Athletic Training
Education Program clinical experience. This level of performance
shall be weighed equally with the academic criteria.
- The candidate's desire
to pursue athletic training as a career is certainly preferred,
but is not a requirement.
- The student shall have
conducted himself or herself both in and out of the athletic training
room and classroom in such a manner so as to be a credit to athletic
training, intercollegiate athletics, and Purdue University. This
includes the qualities of leadership in serving as an example
to their fellow students.
To apply, please complete
the application and submit to Jane Bline. The deadline to apply is October 1. |
