Welcome to the Motor Development Laboratory home page.
Over the first years of life, human children undergo a tremendous amount of development. Infants transform from beings who are capable of only reflexive behavior into children who are capable of performing highly coordinated goal-directed movements. In the Purdue Motor Development Laboratory we are interested in all aspects of this development. Namely, we are interested in how the postural system in children becomes integrated and coordinated with other goal directed behaviors.
Research in the motor development lab is conducted from a life-span perspective. In addition to studying children, the decrement of motor skills in aged populations is also examined.
The Motor Development laboratory contains state of the art equipment used to capture and analyze human movement. The equipment in the laboratory includes Vicon motion capture cameras and an AMTI force platform. In addition to the data collection room, there is a second room attached to the Lab that contains computers and work stations for students.
