Introduction to Honors 499 (not currently being offered)
HONR 499: Human Diseases is a class offered by the Department of Health and Kinesiology for students enrolled in the University Honors Program at Purdue University; www.purdue.edu/honors.
On our website you will find the topics covered in the class (choose SYLLABUS tab from the toolbar on the left) as well as the projects written by the students in partial fulfillment of the requirements for course credit (choose PROJECTS tab from the toolbar on the left).
The projects were authored by students enrolled in the class and are posted with the permission of the students. Students were not required to post their work on this website, but those who elected to do so provide their work for informational purposes only. No attempt is made by the student-authors or the instructor to update the projects. Students received their course grades before their projects were posted on this website.
The topics and the projects vary widely in detail and readability by the general public. Students were asked to provide references and resources for additional information related to each topic. We hope that visitors to the HONR 499 webpage enjoy reading the students’ projects.
It is important to note that these projects are not intended to be professional medical information. They are not substitutes for current professional information on medical conditions, procedures, diagnostic criteria or treatments.
We hope that the topics chosen by the students enrolled in HONR 499 will stimulate readers to seek additional information regarding the benefits of health promotion and disease prevention from medical professionals, reliable internet sources, and the scientific literature.
