Katie Stam Irk was crowned the first Miss America from the state of Indiana in the pageant's 88-year history. Since passing on the title of Miss America 2009, Katie has continued to travel the country on her national speaking tour as an advocate, spokeswoman, host, author, branding professional, and performer. Katie is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a degree in Communication.
Katie is the official spokesperson for Midwest Ag Finance, promoting the agricultural industry, and is an Executive Consultant for New Sunshine, LLC in Indianapolis where she specializes in product development and marketing within the skincare, cosmetics and sun care industry. Katie is a Realtor® with Keller Williams Indy Metro Northeast. She and her husband also own and operate investment properties under Irk Property Management in Indianapolis.
Serving on the Board of Directors for Ovar'coming Together; Indiana's ovarian cancer awareness organization, Katie is passionate about ovarian cancer research, education and support groups. Katie and her husband Brian reside in Indianapolis with their two puppies Hank and Gus and their newborn daughter Charlotte Bell.
