Awards and Scholarships

The College of Health & Human Sciences (HHS) has several scholarships available for prospective students as well as students currently enrolled in the college. HHS awards approximately $1.2 million in scholarships each year to its undergraduate students.  These scholarships are made possible by the generous support of our alumni and friends.

College of Health & Human Sciences scholarship awards are based on many factors including, but not limited to: academic achievement and success, community service, extracurricular activities, professional goals and leadership. Scholarship committees review all College of Health & Human Sciences students at the unit and college-level to determine scholarship eligibility.

To maximize consideration for all possible scholarships, Fall 2013 beginners should complete an admissions application by November 15, 2012.

Scholarship Timeline - Important Deadlines: Scholarship & Financial Aid

November 15

Purdue University awards most of its merit scholarships to qualified first year students based on academic information provided with admission applications that are complete by November 15, 2012.

February 1

Purdue colleges, schools, and academic units award a limited number of scholarships with a financial need component. To be considered for these scholarships, admitted students need to complete the Purdue Scholarship Application by February 1, 2013, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2013. The Purdue Scholarship Application will be made available December 1, 2012.

There are other Purdue scholarships that require a separate application with a February 1 due date.

March 1

We encourage all students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 in order to maximize consideration for all federal, state, and institutional funds they may be eligible to receive. The Purdue University Division of Financial Aid awards need-based scholarships to students who demonstrate certain levels of financial need and complete the FAFSA by March 1.

It is increasingly important for college-bound students and their families to be well informed about how to pay for college. There are many options available, as every person's situation is slightly different. Remember that a college education is an investment in your future. A Purdue degree can be your ticket to rewarding career opportunities, higher earnings and increased influence, in the community and the world beyond.

Application Procedures

In order to apply for scholarships in the College of Health & Human Sciences students must complete the admissions application be complete by November 15, 2012, and the college's online scholarship application by February 1, 2013 (11:59:59 PM EST).

  • All students who submit a completed College of Health & Human Sciences online scholarship application before February 1, 2013, will be considered for all the scholarships for which they are eligible.
  • The college's online scholarship application will be made available on December 10, 2012.
  • New students applying to the College of Health & Human Sciences cannot access the online scholarship application until they have been officially admitted to the College by the Office of Admissions.

Off-Campus Scholarships

We encourage students to explore all of the scholarship opportunities available to them. Great sources for scholarships are community service organizations to which you belong, such as Boy/Girl Scouts, 4-H, high schools, faith-based organizations, and more. Other scholarship opportunities can be found at www.fastweb.com or www.scholarships.com.
