Retail Management with Apparel Design and Technology Concentration

Retail Management students who have a passion for fashion and an interest in apparel design should add the new Apparel Design Concentration to their plan.  This hands-on Apparel Design Concentration will help students gain experience in, and knowledge about, the apparel industry.   The Apparel Design Concentration is five courses (15 hours) focusing on apparel construction, pattern making, computer aided design, fashion illustration, and product development.  Standard industrial machines and industry software are utilized in the classroom.

The Bachelor of Science in REMG with an Apparel Design Concentration prepares students to go into careers in the fast-paced world of fashion, corporate retail, or other business enterprises.  The program combines apparel design, textiles, retail management, visual merchandising, buying, and e-commerce with business courses in accounting, sales, and human behavior in organizations.  Students who complete the Apparel Design concentration will understand the apparel design process from idea to finished product and how the consumer makes purchasing decisions. The curriculum is designed to give Consumer Science students the edge they may not find in other programs.  Students may also choose to supplement their plan by opting for the one year program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) where they will earn an A.A.S. in Fashion Design or Fashion Business Management along with their B.S. in Retail Management from Purdue (all within four years!).  Other exciting study abroad programs are available to further hone one's design and apparel business skills.   Join us and explore what the new Apparel Design Concentration can offer you.
