The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund Awards in NYC, 2017
Heather Gerber is a winner of the 2017 YMA Scholarship Fund. Heather and her faculty advisor, Nancy Strickler travelled to New York City in January to be recognized and receive her award of $5,000! Applicants had to submit an essay about the fashion industry along with designs for the case study. She is the first and only from Purdue to be awarded this scholarship. Heather will be graduating December 2017 with a double major in Apparel Design and Retail Management in the college of Health and Human Science.
National Retail Federation's Annual Convention in NYC, 2017
This group of students attended the 2017 National Retail Federation Student Program in NYC, January 12-15, 2017. Here is a link to the website: http://studentbigshow.nrf.com/. Three students were selected by NRF to receive scholarships for travel to the 2017 Retail's BIG Show and Student Program. Gabrielle Breitenbach (Rising Stars), Jane Markman (Next Generation) and Ariana Zablah (Student Ambassadors) received these NRF travel scholarships.
LVMH Days on Campus, 2016
Students from the Department of Consumer Science, School of Hospitality and Tourism, and across campus spent Wednesday, October 25th learning and networking with 4 of the LVMH brands; Fendi, Sephora, Fresh and Loro Piana. The morning was spent with presentations from LVMH, and each individual brand, followed by a networking luncheon with the representatives and an afternoon panel presentation.
Seniors spent the morning on the 26th participating in group interviews with the four brands followed by a reception held in the Marriott Atrium.
Chicago Retail Experience Trip, 2016
Dr. Tanusja Sheth accompanied students to Chicago to visit various retailers including Bucketfeet, Bloomingdale's, Eatily, Intermix, Shinola, Toms and Trunk Club. Retailers met with the students and gave guidance for their professional development.
2016 Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Planning Makes a Difference Case Study Contest
The following Financial Counseling and Planning students were finalist in the Northwestern Mutual Planning Makes a Difference Case Study Competition held at Purdue University on April 18, 2016: Conner King (1st place/$3,000), Neil LaGrange (CFP Faculty Advisor for the competition), Layton Ginder (2nd place/$2,000), and Kristen Wise (3rd place/$1,000).
Presentation ceremony for the awards included: Neil LaGrange, Conner King, Layton Ginder, Kristin Wise, and Mike Roe who serves as the Program Director for the CFP®Degree Program at Purdue University.
