Sandra S. Liu joined Purdue University as a faculty member in 2001 and is currently Professor in Department of Consumer Science, Director of the Center for Global Urban Sustainability – Ensuring Sustainable Health among Underserved of College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University, and Co-Chair of Covering Kids and Family's Lake County Coalition. After attaining her Ph.D. in Policy Studies from University of London, Sandra continued her training in managing Executive MBA Planning at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. She also holds a MBA from Pepperdine University, Masters of Science in both Preventive Medicine and Veterinary Pharmacology from the Ohio State University, and Bachelor's in Pharmacy from Taipei Medical College (Taiwan). Dr. Liu was elected Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, one of the founding members of World Marketing Association, together with American Marketing Association, European Marketing Association, and Latin American Marketing Confederation. Prior to becoming an academician in 1990, Dr. Liu had worked extensively in the healthcare sector, including Ohio Department of Health, Bristol Myers (Taiwan) Ltd, and Allergan Inc. with responsibilities ranging from discovery, clinical research, program planning and monitoring, to international sales and marketing in across the United States and Asia Pacific. Dr. Liu remains to be active in consulting and executive training for businesses globally, such as Ascension Health and National Oilwell Varco in the US, Bayer healthcare Ltd. In Chin), 3M Hong Kong Limited in Hong Kong, CURE-San Pedro Sula in Latin America, and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Dr. Liu has authored a number of articles and several marketing books. Her recent endeavors include: 1) Developing sustainable business models for the community-based health and wellbeing initiatives; 2) building systems for co-creating patient-centered experience; and 3) mapping strategic processes for effective implementation of school wellness policies.
