Lucette Comer

Professor Comer works in the areas of personal selling, sales management, and consumer behavior. Her research involves such things as the development and validation of a scale to measure active empathetic listening, the role of empathy in helping behavior and other interpersonal relationship issues, diversity in the sales force including such things as gender issues and cross-cultural selling relationships. She is a fellow of the Purdue University Teaching Academy and has received numerous teaching awards including the Mary Matthews Outstanding Teaching Award of the School of Consumer and Family Studies.

She holds a Ph.D. degree in marketing from the University of Maryland. She is a Past-Chair of the Sales Special Interest Group of the American Marketing Association. She has served as Section Editor of the Abstract Review Board of the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management. Her research has appeared in a variety of academic journals, including Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Psychology in Marketing, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, and Sloan Management Review, among others.
