
Global Perspectives of Health and Wellness
Maymester (Summer Module I), 2013
Program Synopsis: The Global Experiences in Health and Wellness program has no pre-requisites. This summer program will take place during Maymester (Summer Module I), and will be hosted by Beijing Sport University (BSU). A Purdue University faculty member serves as Instructor and Resident Director of the program, providing academic and administrative support to students. The objectives of the program are to give students an overview of various Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques as it relates to the care of injuries and illnesses, to learn basic techniques of Chinese exercise as it might relate to injury rehabilitation, and to interact with BSU students and faculty. Some co-curricular travel is planned to Hangzhou and Shanghai for additional experiences in Chinese culture and society. Housing will be at Beijing Sport University and area hotels. This is a 3-credit course. More detailed information will be forthcoming in October.
Attractions/niche: Students will receive guest lecturers from faculty members of Beijing Sport University, exposing them to those associated with training of elite Olympic athletes.
