Study Abroad Fees and Scholarships
John and Emma Tse Fund for Global Scholars
Through the generosity of John and Emma Tse, the John and Emma Tse Fund for Global Scholars has been established to assist undergraduates in the College of Health and Human Sciences with costs associated with study abroad. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $3,000. The Tse Scholarship application process is now open for 2011-2012 study abroad programs. Please note, you do not need to be enrolled/accepted to a specific program before applying for the scholarship.
Charles V. and Audrey Palm Riker Fund for HDFS
This fund was established in recognition of the teaching and counseling career of Professor Charles V. Riker, who served the University from 1959 to 1983 as a professor in CDFS, and his spouse, Audrey Palm Riker, a clinical psychologist. HDFS students participating in a study abroad program that incorporates activities relating to children who are economically disadvantaged are eligible to apply for the Riker Fund scholarship. For more information on this scholarship, please contact, Denise Buhrmester.
Purdue Study Abroad Scholarships
Scholarships are also available through Purdue Study Abroad.
Exchange Programs
The cost of studying abroad is comparable to the cost of studying and living independently in West Lafayette. Participants in exchange programs are billed by the Bursar's Office for their normal, on-campus tuition plus the cost of supplemental overseas health insurance ($29 per month). Additional costs, such as meals not included in the housing fee and airfare, are paid directly by the student.
Co-sponsored Programs
For co-sponsored programs and for programs led by Purdue faculty members, students pay a program fee plus a Purdue Study Abroad fee. No additional tuition is assessed.
