Current Research Interests:

Research in Dr. Buhman's laboratory focuses on the process of intestinal lipid absorption and how it regulates whole animal energy balance. Current research in the laboratory addresses the following questions: 1) What is the role of triglyceride synthesis in absorptive cells of the intestine on whole animal energy balance? 2) What is the role of fatty acid catabolism in absorptive cells of the intestine on whole animal energy balance? 3) What is the role of triglyceride storage in lipid droplets during the process of intestinal lipid absorption?
