We are pleased with your interest in our graduate program. Before you continue with the electronic application for admission, we wish to ensure that you are familiar with the procedural requirements for admission to graduate degree study in Education. It is important to recognize that although satisfaction of these basic requirements does not guarantee graduate admission, failure to satisfy these requirements may lead to automatic denial of admission.

Application Procedure: Each of our program areas has its own admissions requirements and procedures. Therefore, it is important for the student to contact our office for a complete set of instructions. There are, however, some requirements common to all of our programs, such as:

  • Upload transcripts from each college/university attended
  • TOEFL Test – for degree-seeking students whose native language is not English
  • 3 Recommendation letters – forms available later in this application
  • Supplements - required for School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, and Human Services programs. Contact Andrea DeJesus for information on Supplemental Forms that may be required.
  • Statement of Purpose – Required for all degree-seeking applicants

Application Deadlines: Each of our programs has different requirements for application deadlines. Applications and all supporting documents must be received on or before the program’s deadlines for those that have deadlines as the following list indicates:

  • Counseling – has no deadlines, welcomes applications anytime all programs
  • Educational Administration – has no deadlines, welcomes applications anytime
  • Instructional Technology – April 1 for fall or summer enrollment; Nov. 15 for spring enrollment
  • Special Education – has no deadlines, welcomes applications anytime

Master's Degree Program Basic Requirements

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required

International Applicant Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required
  • TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Minimum Paper-Based Test (PBT) Score Required: 550
    Minimum Internet-Based Test (IBT) Overall Score Required: 77
    With the following minimum section requirements:
    Reading: 19
    Listening: 14
    Speaking: 18
    Writing: 18
  • IELTS (Academic Module):
    An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 6.5 or higher will be accepted
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic Module):
    An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 58 or higher will be accepted
  • TWE for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Not required, but recommended

If you do not meet the basic requirements described above, please do not submit an electronic application until you have contacted our graduate program staff.
