K-12 STEM Outreach

Each academic semester and summer, the undergraduate research cohorts apply for the Purdue University Office of Engagement, Service Learning Grant.

Upholding LSAMP’s goal of broadening the participation of minority students of all ages in STEM disciplines, LSAMP-Purdue participates in a day-long STEM learning opportunity for K- 12 students each semester. Since the Summer 2012, LSAMP research scholars have engaged over 770 K-12 students in STEM focused educational experiences. Purdue LSAMP has established a firm and consistent presence at the Indiana Black Expo as well as the Lafayette Regional Science Fair.

Summer 2016

On July 15, 2016, LSAMP scholars engaged with approximately 170 middle and high school students at the Youth Leadership Summit at the Indiana Black Expo, implementing a program entitled “S.T.E.M. Games”.
