Daniel S.Elliot

Daniel S. Elliot earned his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Michigan in 1981, and studied as a post-doctoral researcher at JILA (University of Colorado and NIST) and as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Munich. He joined the School of Electrical Engineering at Purdue University as an Assistant Professor in 1984, where he currently serves as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and (courtesy) Professor of Physics.


His research interests are in experimental coherent optics and atomic physics. He has co-authored approximately 50 publications in scientific journals, and is a fellow of APS and OSA, and a member of IEEE.


He has served as the Graduate Coordinator for ECE and has directed graduate recruiting efforts for the College of Engineering. He was a visiting fellow at JILA, an NSF Presidential Young Investigator (PYI), and has been awarded several teaching awards.
