I am working with several producer groups that each consist of over 30 men and women sharing acreage. We are mainly working with cash crops (cotton, sesame, sorghum, and millet) and helping them boost their production and utilize proper value chain techniques and link with better markets. I also am working with several women's gardening groups helping them produce new vegetables for the area. One of my main projects is helping these groups utilize proper sustainable agriculture techniques such as low-cost gravity fed irrigation systems to help alleviate the reliance on rain-fed agriculture. I can assure you my time spent with ESE has helped me tremendously. Agricultural development is an extremely complex field that requires best-fit solutions and hands on approaches that do not apply the same in every scenario. Much of what we discussed in the previous years ESE course I see on a daily basis. I just wanted to let you know how great I think ESE has and will serve me during my service in Northern Uganda.
