My name is Robbie Hummel, I am a senior from Valparasio majoring in management. And I am living my dreams at Purdue.
I came to this University because of its world class academics, its great tradition in basketball, the best coach in the NCAA Matt Painter – and to win Big Ten and NCAA championships.
Two years ago I was honorable mention AP All-American, First-team All-Big Ten, Academic All-Big Ten and a finalist for the John Wooden Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy. I started 27 games before a season-ending knee injury cut my dreams short.
I worked hard and came back. Last year, in one of the first practices, I reinjured my knee and missed the season I had dreamed about with my classmates JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore.
It was tough. But the support I received from the athletics department, my teammates and Boilermakers everywhere has been overwhelming. The love you have shown me and my family has helped me through this, and I thank you.
At Purdue I have learned the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work and doing the right thing – always. I have learned that Boilermaker fans are the best in the world.
Your support has helped me reach this moment. I cannot thank you enough. I am very proud to be part of this wonderful Boilermaker family – and I always will be.
My name is Robbie Hummel. I am ready to go. We’re going to have an exciting season.
Thanks to donors support I am living my dreams at Purdue.
