Make a Difference for our Student-Athletes!
We are proud to say that Purdue is one of only EIGHT athletics departments among NCAA Division I-A public schools that is fully self-sufficient. We receive ZERO dollars from the University and/or state government. Today, our annual scholarship and academic support costs total $11 million and that number keeps going up, making your continued support ever so important.
With your support the past year, here are a few highlights of what we were able to achieve.
- Purdue's 500-plus student-athletes have achieved a higher cumulative grade-point average than the overall student body 28 consecutive semesters.
- The 2011 football team returned to postseason play for the first time in four years and defeated Western Michigan 37-32 in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl to finish with a 7-6 record.
- Tight end Kyle Adams and linebacker Joe Holland earned first team Academic All-America honors in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
- The 2010 volleyball team advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the 64-team era and finished the season ranked 11th nationally. The Boilermakers subsequently advanced to the Sweet 16 while making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in the last eight years under head coach Dave Shondell.
- Ryan Kerrigan of the football team was a first-round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins and JaJuan Johnson of the men’s basketball team was a first-round selection in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
- Diver David Boudia was named the 2011 Big Ten-Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year. He currently is training for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
- The women’s golf team finished as a national runner up in 2011. The Boilermakers claimed the NCAA title in 2009.
