The Still Life Project
Ralph G. Beelke Memorial Gallery, Creative Arts Building Two
February 04, 2002 through March 01, 2002

IMage from the Still Life ProjectIn conjunction with the Serial Thinking exhibition, the Galleries are also pleased to present an interactive exhibit called The Still Life Project in the Ralph G. Beelke Gallery in Creative Arts Building Two.

Different types of still life arrangements will be assembled in the gallery and made available for study by visitors and artists of all ages. The resulting artwork will be mounted on the walls of the gallery in a salon-style exhibition that will continue to grow through the end of its run.
The Galleries encourage the entire community to come and draw (or paint, or sculpt, or photograph) from the still lifes and to contribute their own work to the exhibit. During the "Still Life Project" exhibition, hours for the Beelke Gallery have been expanded: Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm; Thursday open until 9pm; Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
A closing reception will be held Thursday, February 28 from 4:30 to 6:00pm in the Beelke Gallery to celebrate the art work created by all participants in the project.

High school artists will be invited to Purdue Galleries on Saturday, February 16 from 9am to 12 noon for an "Open Drawing Session Day." They will have an opportunity to see the "Serial Thinking" exhibit and make studies in The Still Life Project. Professional artists and graduate level instructors will be on hand to offer suggestions and critiques of the students' work.
