Selections from the exhibition
A contemporary review of fine art printmaking in all media
from around the world, presented as a joint project and traveling
exhibition by the Purdue University Galleries and the Wright
State University Art Galleries in Dayton, Ohio.
Artwork was selected by a curatorial team consisting of
Kathryn Reeves, Professor of Art & Design at Purdue; Kimberly
Vito, Associate Professor of Art & Art History at Wright
State; and Craig Martin, Director of the Purdue Galleries.
With over 1500 images submitted by more than 300 artists from
33 countries, the selection process forced many difficult
choices. Overall, the work demonstrated a widely diverse use
of imagery and both ancient and modern techniques.
The resulting exhibit will feature a total of 78 works representing
67 individual artists from 19 countries around the world.
After showing at Purdue and Wright State, the exhibit is
scheduled to tour to various locations in the US throughout
2003 and into 2004. The traveling schedule currently includes
stops at the Blanden Memorial Art Museum in Fort Dodge, Iowa;
the Sarah Moody Gallery at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa;
the Higgins Art Gallery at Cape Cod Community College in W.
Barnstable, Massachusetts; the Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray
State University in Murray, Kentucky; as well as other potential
venues.
All Galleries exhibitions and events are free and open
to the public.
