60 x 60: Small Prints from Purdue University Galleries

Purdue University Galleries is pleased to present "60 x 60," a traveling exhibition of contemporary prints acquired from our biennial small print exhibition, "Sixty Square Inches." Over the years, the Galleries have acquired a total of 167 artworks from these competitions.

“60 x 60” includes:
• sixty framed images in a variety of printmaking techniques under sixty square inches in image size
• a display of various printmaking media to illustrate the methods used by contemporary printmakers
• a full-color catalog of the exhibition
• a Purdue Galleries PowerPoint presentation on the history and development of printmaking entitled “Printmaking: Making a Mark – Leaving an Impression”
• an education package with supplies for hands-on relief printmaking activities.

In support of the traveling exhibition, the Galleries have been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts under its Challenging America: Reaching Every Community Invitational Initiative. We are promoting the show to a wide range of college/university art museums and galleries and regional art centers.

Artworks are matted and framed in a unified 16 x 20 inch format, with archival boards under plexiglas. The exhibit will be shipped in crates built to house the works during transport.

Rental fee: $500 per venue. Each venue will receive 100 copies of the catalog; additional copies can be purchased at cost.

Shipping: Participating venues will be responsible for arrangements and the costs associated with one-way shipment of the exhibition to the next venue (US only).

Space requirements: About 150 linear feet of exhibition space. Exhibitors must provide adequate insurance during their shipping commitment and while the artwork is in house. Exhibitors are also expected to provide experienced art handlers for installation and a secure, limited-access gallery space.
