University Honors Program

The University Honors Program (UHP) teams exceptional students with resources designed to help them realize their potential. A few examples:

  • Leading Purdue faculty submit proposals to teach classes for UHP students. Recent courses have included Human Genetics: New Hopes & Dilemmas; Violence in Science and Society; the McDonaldization of Society; and The Politics of Popular Culture in the 20th Century United States. Students enjoy small classes and engaging teachers.
  • UHP coordinates study abroad trips through which participating students can earn honors-level credit and have fantastic experiences. Recent trips have included a spring break study tour to Transylvania, Romania, and a summer trip to Laval University in Quebec City, Canada.
  • Staff assist students as they prepare for admission to top graduate schools or for outstanding employment opportunities after graduation.
  • Social and networking activities foster friendships and intellectual relationships among members.

UHP is an invitation-only program. Top students from all academic colleges and schools are invited to participate. Selection criteria include SAT/ACT scores and high school academic record. To be considered, students must have a complete admission application on file in the Office of Admissions by November 15.
