A 7-year old David Boudia was watching the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games when he decided to be an Olympian. After years of training, 6 NCAA diving titles and numerous Big Ten accolades, that dream came true in 2008 for this record-setting Purdue diver. Now, a few years older and wiser, he’s considered by most to be Team USA’s best chance to win a diving medal this summer in London.

The Platform

“My coach at Purdue, Adam Soldati, is definitely one of the biggest influences of my life. The care he takes inside the pool, but more importantly the care he takes outside of the pool to build me into the man that I will become in the end. That has been a huge impact in my life.”

The Take Off

“Growing up my sisters and I were highly competitive whether it was ‘Go Fish‘ or basketball and that has helped us all succeed in the things that we want to do. My family is extremely important to me. They’ll be in London sharing the journey with me.”

The Flight

“In 2008, I was caught up in the hoopla of the Olympics. I was chasing after things that vanish. This time I’m chasing the things that mean the most to me and that’s enjoying the journey and glorifying God. The results in London will take care of themselves.”

The Entry

“Diving has allowed me to travel to almost all of the continents and see the beauty that’s around the world. That’s been one of the coolest parts of my diving career. But it’s important to get my Purdue degree. I hope to continue motivational speaking and maybe go into sports marketing or Olympic sponsorship after the 2016 games.”
