A manager in the making
Name: Jordan Williams
Major: Management
Hometown: Indianapolis, Ind.
Interesting factoid: Been to China twice
Something he cannot do without: His iPod
Purdue accolades: Selected for Business Opportunity Program, Recipient of Helen Bass Williams Award for Entering First-Year Students
Why Purdue? "Purdue has a great business program. Plus, I was selected for the Business Opportunity Program. I could start over summer and get a jump start on things – I really couldn’t pass up on that."
Inspired to succeed: "My parents are my guiding force. They provided for me, helped me become the person who I am today. They support me in everything I aspire to do."
A true sportsman: "I love basketball and I play a lot in my spare time. I really want to concentrate in sports management and hopefully work in NCAA sports."
A young man of purpose: Community service comes naturally for Jordan. "In my high school, I was heavily involved in this noble organization called Young Men of Purpose and through that I got a chance to mentor elementary students in the area. In my sophomore year, I tutored elementary school kids and helped with their math. I’d love to continue to give back to the community."
Cultured young: One of Jordan’s most memorable experiences was visiting China. "My high school sponsored us; and I was hesitant to go at first but it was the best decision I ever made. Getting to see another culture firsthand was amazing. I stayed with a lovely host family and they showed me around and made me great food. Chinese food there is nothing like it tastes here!"
