Classifications and Position Descriptions
The compensation and classifications section of human
resource services, or the respective Human Resources
Team (West Lafayette), or the regional campus human
resources department classifies clerical and service
positions for the purposes of determining the staff
classification, pay level, position title, eligibility
for staff benefits, and overtime compensation eligibility.
Position classification determination is based upon
the skill, effort, responsibility, and working conditions
of the position, and how the position compares to similar
positions in the same department, school/college, and across
campus.
Employees should discuss any questions they may have
concerning their position classification with their
immediate supervisor.
