Academic Regulations and
Procedures
“Regulations and procedures” may sound like a stiff and formal way to conduct what should be a stimulating and rewarding relationship between faculty and students or between faculty and administration. But important subjects such as grades and grade reports or requirements for degrees must be spelled out so that everyone concerned knows where he or she stands. Imprecision in such important areas could lead to misunderstanding, friction, inconvenience, and frustration.
Under such conditions, it behooves each member of the faculty to become acquainted with a set of academic regulations and procedures that govern the following topics: academic year and calendar, the academic program, degrees, requirements for degrees, registration and course assignment, classes, grades and grade reports, scholastic deficiency, scholastic recognition, scholastic records, class roll and grade reporting rosters, and rights and privacy in student educational records.
These regulations and procedures are described in
detail beginning on page O-1 of the Academic Procedure
Manual, available in each department office, and
in University
Regulations, available from the Office of the
Dean of Students.
