Use of Vertebrate Animals

All research, teaching, or testing involving vertebrate animals must be reviewed and approved by Purdue University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), known locally as the Purdue Animal Care and Use Committee (PACUC), prior to their use in any activity. Information and application forms are available on the PACUC Web site at www.purdue.edu/research/vpr/compliance/animals/index.shtml.

The PACUC, in cooperation with the Purdue Laboratory Animal Program (PLAP), provides training in the humane care and use of vertebrate animals as well as in research techniques involving laboratory animals.

For information about the review and approval of animal protocols used in teaching, testing, or research, contact the PACUC Administrator at 49-47206. For assistance with veterinary care, research design, and training, contact the PLAP at 49-49163.
